Sunny Side Up for Eggs and Cholesterol

Good news for breakfast lovers, eggs are finally off the hook.

A study from the University of South Australia has offically cleared eggs of thier long-standing cholesterol charges. Researchers found that eating 2 eggs a day, as part of a low low saturated fat diet, doesn't raise harmful LDL cholesterol. In fact, it may even help reduce it.

So what's the real culprit behind rising cholesterol? Saturated fats, found in processed meats like bacon and sausages, NOT the cholesterol in eggs.

According to lead researcher Professor Jon Buckley, outdated dietary guidelines have unfairly “cracked” the egg’s reputation. Now, the evidence is clear: eggs can absolutely be part of a heart-healthy diet, as long as you go easy on the saturated fats.

So yes to poached, scrambled, and sunny side up. Just maybe skip the extra side of bacon.
