Cranberry reduces risk of urinary tract infection in elderly

A recent study published by Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 17 January 2014, has shown that cranberry capsules can provide a natural and safe alternative for the prevention of urinary tract infections in the elderly.

The incidence of urinary tract infection for high risk participants was 26% lower in the treatment group as compared to placebo. No clinical benefits were observed for the participants at low risk of urinary tract infection. The intervention was well - tolerated with a good safety profile.
