PSA Successful Ignite Participants Announced

Congratulations to the eight successful participants in the 2014 Pharmaceutical Society of Australia ignite leadership program. The ignite program aims to develop high-performing early career pharmacists into future leaders who will drive strategy, change and innovation.

The 2014 ignite participants are:

  • Rhyan Stanley ACT
  • Anna Barwick, NSW
  • Elise McGilchrist, NSW
  • Anjana Rao, NSW
  • Colleen Niland, NT
  • Laura Gabriel, Tasmania
  • Katherine Hancy, Victoria
  • Paul Buise Western, Australia

National President of PSA, Grant Kardachi, said ignite offered young pharmacists a unique leadership development experience that broadened their understanding of leadership and aimed to develop their leadership skills, taking into account each participant’s personal leadership goals and aspirations.

“The program combines interactive workshops, experiential and distance learning, inspirational speakers, mentoring, networking opportunities and a practical workplace project to develop participants as future leaders,” Mr Kardachi said.

Mr Kardachi said regardless of whether the early career pharmacists wanted to advance their career within a hospital, community, industry, government, non-government or academic setting, the ignite program would give them the platform they needed to succeed.

“The inclusion of motivational speakers and mentors in the program also gives participants practical perspectives of leaders in various healthcare roles, as well as motivating them for their future careers,” Mr Kardachi said.

“The program is made possible by a partnership with PDL whose commitment to the future leaders of the profession has made ignite accessible to young pharmacists across Australia.”
