Pharmacy Assistant of The Year - 10th Anniversary Award Open

Nominations are now open for the Pharmacy Guild/GuildSuper Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY), now in its 10th year. This year, PATY is the most prestigious award for pharmacy assistants in Australia - recognising pharmacy assistants for the outstanding contribution they make to the pharmacy industry.

Since 2007, more than 3,000 pharmacy assistants around Australia have been recognised by their peers, employers and industry colleagues for outstanding contributions to community pharmacy. Guild National President George Tambassis said this award reinforces the importance of pharmacy assistants in community pharmacy across Australia.

“Each year, we meet nominees who are enthusiastic and invested in their pharmacies, and who go above and beyond their role to assist their patients and support their pharmacies. We need to recognise the achievements and contributions that pharmacy assistants make to communities and the community pharmacy industry as a whole,” he said.

2015 National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Erin Pavy encourages owners, pharmacists, pharmacy staff, industry reps and the community to nominate a fantastic pharmacy assistant in this year’s awards.

“Participating in PATY gives pharmacy assistants the opportunity to showcase their skills, ideas and knowledge which is extremely rewarding. One of the best things about being involved in the Award was the amazing feeling to be recognised by my employer, and the industry as a whole, for the work I do as a pharmacy assistant.

“Since winning, I have been provided the opportunity to write for national magazines, present at our National Banner Group conference, attend local school career days and much more to highlight the valuable and rewarding career of a pharmacy assistant – it’s been an amazing experience that I will never forget!”

Successful nominees will be asked to attend a state-based workshop, where they can showcase their passion, knowledge and leadership skills while learning from their peers and Guild presenters. A winner from each state will be flown to the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October for the final workshop and announcement of the national winner. The national winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Guild Training course to the value of $5,100, amongst other great rewards.
