Avoid Calcium & Tetracycline

Studies have found co-administration of calcium decreases the absorption of tetracycline - a common antibiotic. Taking tetracycline with milk has been shown to reduce its absorption by 50-60%. Calcium supplements, calcium-containing antacids are also expected to cause a significant interaction. Evidence from interaction studies with tetracyclines and iron suggests that separating the dose of calcium-containing products and tetracycline by at least 3 hours may help to minimise this interaction.
